Show us your life…Kid’s Rooms

by TwinkieTotMom on October 22, 2010

So I am totally loving Kelly’s Korner and the Show us Your Life home edition! Another week has come, and it’s kid’s rooms to share!

The kid’s rooms in our house were the first rooms to be painted, seeing as I originally thought those were the only rooms I was going to paint (and now there is our room and the bathrooms that are the only rooms NOT painted…and when I say painted, I mean with a specific color theme in mind).
Tucker’s room was all my idea, but I saw the idea for the girls’ room from It’s the Little Things that make a House a Home. I love the way both rooms have turned out, although I’m still working on finishing touches in both rooms, but more so in Tucker’s room.

{Looking into the girls’ room from their door…can we say, “PINK!”}

{Love these windows…when we transform their room into a big girl room one day I want Mike to build a window seat to go under them}

{The dresser my parents bought the girls before they were born…we were in desperate need of more space for all of their clothes! I also love all of the memorabilias on the dresser and shelves…each thing is something very special}

{The lamp I made and a good shot of the decorative detail on the wall}

{This small dresser was my brother’s and I took it an refinished it with the distressed look that I love…the knobs (minus one that is in need of repair) are from my favorite, Hobby Lobby, purchased at 50% off for about $5 for all five!}

{Lexie’s sign I purchased off Etsy…Lilah has one two but I refrained from posting two nearly identical prints!}

{The closet…the mess on the floor are clothes I’m working on going through and packing away that are too small for them!}

{Another view of their closet…can we say, “Holy Moly!”}

{The girls decided to join in my picture taking…here’s Lexie walking!}

{Silly girls wanting to be in the middle of it all!}

{Tucker’s door…the cling ons are from Target!}

{Tucker’s ikea bed, ball pillows from Target Dollar Spot, his new Woody from Aunt B, and the stripes I painted. I still want to hang wooden bats from end to end horizontally as a chair rail at the top of the strips under the cling ons, but Mike is still on the hunt for some for me…anyone know of somewhere to get them?}

{Another view of his room}

{The ultrasound photo is from Tucker at 9 weeks. I was lucky enough to have an ultrasound tech who wanted to try out the 4D while I was there and got some great shots! She said it was the best looking 9 week old photos she had ever taken with the 4D. The lamp shade was a steal from Old Time Pottery for like $1.24!}

{Tucker’s rocking horse…a gift from Grandpa and Grandma but made by Mike’s aunt and uncle}

{The girls followed me in here as well! Look at our daredevil Lexie! This chair is a Cars (the movie) chair that I half a$$’d tried to re-upholster. Mike wants to give it a shot, but most likely we’ll buy Tucker a new chair like this or this for Christmas}

{Lexie doing some more walking and little Lilah just trying to keep up! The floor rugs were also from the Target Dollar Spot}

{Yet another view of the stripes and sports!}

{Tucker’s bins of pull-ups, butt paste, shoes, books, and Toy Story figures!}
You might notice that the kid’s rooms really don’t have any toys in them and that is something I love! When we moved into our new home and had the space for a playroom I decided to keep all the toys in the playroom in order to lessen the amount of clean up each day. It works perfectly! After the kids are in bed each night, cleaning up the playroom is all that needs to be done.

I really hope you enjoyed checking our Tucker, Lilah, and Lexie’s rooms! Next week I won’t be joining in the home sharing fun, seeing as we don’t have a guest bedroom…all rooms at this inn are full! The week after will be bathrooms though, so check back then!

Love both of the rooms! I like that you did unique paint treatments – what a great detail. And can I just say that I'm a little jealous of your girls' closet?! I only have a boy and while I enjoy shopping for him, it's just not the same as shopping for little girls! :)

You have a beautiful family!
