Last month, we Rocked the Bump, and this month we are Rockin’ the Baby. Or babies in my case.
Looking back at all these pictures brings back a flood of emotions. You can read my kids pregnancy & birth stories in the About Me tab above, and will learn that getting these babies, all three of them, here safe & sound was quite a feat for us. Luckily my kids are not as much trouble once out of the bump as they were in.
Four years ago I rocked that sweet little baby to sleep.
Four years ago I was a new momma learning the ropes.
Four years ago I cherished every afternoon nap with Tucker snuggled on my chest as we snoozed away together.
& I can’t even begin to explain the emotions I feel when looking at these pictures of the girls. That time in our lives was such a difficult one. We were stretched beyond imaginable with a 21 month old son at home who understood nothing of the reason for us leaving every night to visit his sisters in the NICU. He hadn’t even gotten to meet them until 48 days after their birth, the day they came home from the NICU. Each night Tucker would be long in bed by the time we got home from tending to his sisters, and leaving them to return home each night was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I think a piece of me stayed with them each time we left, each time being harder than the last.
But that was almost two years ago.
Two years ago that we waited on pins & needles for the doctors & nurses to allow us, their parents, to hold our girls, change our girls, feed our girls…
Two years ago that we spent 48 days calling two places home.
Two years ago that finally after 48 days our family of five was complete & under one roof.
Oh, how I wish I could be rockin’ these sweet babies again. Those early days (and all the days after) fly by too quickly! I guess it’s a good thing I have so many friends who are expecting, so I can soothe my baby fever with visits to their little ones!
