Rockin’ the Baby

Last month, we Rocked the Bump, and this month we are Rockin’ the Baby. Or babies in my case.

Looking back at all these pictures brings back a flood of emotions. You can read my kids pregnancy & birth stories in the About Me tab above, and will learn that getting these babies, all three of them, here safe & sound was quite a feat for us. Luckily my kids are not as much trouble once out of the bump as they were in.

CIMG2430-1I look at the pictures of my sweet Tucker boy and cannot begin to fathom that he is going to be four years old come October.

Four years ago I rocked that sweet little baby to sleep.

Four years ago I was a new momma learning the ropes.

Four years ago I cherished every afternoon nap with Tucker snuggled on my chest as we snoozed away together.

Just days the fuzzy newborn hair!

Momma & Tucker

Our little family exactly one month into it all.

& I can’t even begin to explain the emotions I feel when looking at these pictures of the girls. That time in our lives was such a difficult one. We were stretched beyond imaginable with a 21 month old son at home who understood nothing of the reason for us leaving every night to visit his sisters in the NICU. He hadn’t even gotten to meet them until 48 days after their birth, the day they came home from the NICU. Each night Tucker would be long in bed by the time we got home from tending to his sisters, and leaving them to return home each night was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I think a piece of me stayed with them each time we left, each time being harder than the last.

But that was almost two years ago.

Two years ago that I was rushed for an emergency c-section at 29 weeks gestation because I was 10 centimeters dilated when showing up at triage in the middle of the night.Lilah-1

Two years ago that we waited on pins &   needles for the doctors & nurses to allow us, their parents, to hold our girls, change our girls, feed our girls…

Two years ago that we spent 48 days calling two places home.

Two years ago that finally after 48 days our family of five was complete & under one roof.

Lilah, two days old. Getting some sun for her jaundice.

Lexie, two days old. On a CPAP for more oxygen.

Holding both girls together for the first time. 23 days old.

Wearing clothes for the first time. 24 days old.

They turned one month old in the NICU but made it home before they turned two months old!

The first morning waking up to all three of my babies under one roof.

Oh, how I wish I could be rockin’ these sweet babies again. Those early days (and all the days after) fly by too quickly! I guess it’s a good thing I have so many friends who are expecting, so I can soothe my baby fever with visits to their little ones!

They are just SO tiny when they are born early! I’ve had two nephews (separately) in the NICU and it was SUCH a joyous time when they were able to come home. And you are SO cute in those pics with your first baby. And so very happy. Newborns are just THE best!! xo

OMGosh! Can you say sweet overload? You make incredibly adorable children! Your story is so touching, too. I can’t imagine having to go through so many difficulties, but I can imagine the love it takes to succeed. & even though it was what it was, it was worth it!

    • Thank you! I might be a little biased but I think I make pretty adorable kids, too! Yes, our story was hard but in the grand scheme of things our girls were actually very lucky, they had pretty good stays in the NICU compared to other kids. I thank God daily!
