I’ve mentioned it before, but if you didn’t know, I’m a firm believer of the rumors that surround a full moon. Never heard of them? Well, ask any teacher and they can tell you, a full moon makes kids do crazy things. Or ask my grandmother and she’ll tell you a full moon always put my grandpa into a bad mood. Honestly, any time my grandpa was in a grumpy funk my grandma would blame it on the full moon, and sure enough, she’d be right about a full moon that night.
I had noticed the rather large moon last night, but didn’t even think about it being a full moon until tonight when my mom text me.
Full moon tomorrow night. Maybe that’s why the kids have been crazy & loud!
& no, she wasn’t meaning my students (although it would explain the week I’ve had there, too) but my own kids instead.
Then I got to thinking. I had gotten home earlier than usual today thanks to it being the Wednesday before a paid holiday (in our teacher contracts there’s something about getting to leave when the kids leave on early Wendesdays if it’s the Wednesday before a paid holiday, cue Veteran’s Day and my many thanks) and had been in quite the “spring cleaning” mode. If you ask me, the person who came up with the term “spring cleaning” was quite wrong because I seem to do a heavy cleaning & re-organizing at least once every season.
If you know me, you know I love to organize and re-arranging the furniture in my house quite often as well. By the time the hubs got home this evening, the playroom was un-recognizable and furniture in a few rooms was moved around just a tad bit. But not to mention just that, more than one load of laundry was also being worked on as well. If you really know me, you know I hate doing laundry and avoid it at all costs. As of right now I’ve done three loads and have two more going.
I sent my mom this message on facebook:
The impending full moon must be affecting me too. I’ve done like three loads of laundry tonight & am still working on more! Weird 😉
Do you believe in the affects of the full moon on you or your kids?
