Tricia’s Christmas Shower

Last weekend was the shower my mom & I threw for Tricia. Much to our surprise (we ended up having to do everything with the kids running around at our feet because Mike worked late unexpectedly) it went off without a hitch!

There was plenty to eat, with our big focus being on all the yummy sweets! Mom did a great job on the cupcakes and chocolate dipped rice crispy treats & pretzels. I made candied almonds and saltine cracker toffee…it was truly a sugar lover’s dream.

Our gift for all who attended was a little ornament mom & I made. We used four of our favorite shots from their engagement photos and put them in glass ornaments with a little raffia and tied them up with a simple plaid ribbon.

Besides the plethora of sweets, we served finger sandwiches. We had egg salad and chicken salad croissants along with pimento cheese and cucumber sandwiches. There was cheese & crackers, pasta salad, and our favorite cheese ball & peppered jelly cheeses as well! Hot wassail and sangria were served along with sweet tea and lemonade.

After everyone was nice and full from all the tasty food, we settled down and watched Tricia open her gifts. They got just about everything you could imagine one would need to decorate for their first Christmas together. Stockings (that I made) tons of ornaments, dishes, salt & pepper shakers, hand towels, and more! She got some really cute rustic or countryish things too, which is what she really loves.

After she was done opening all of her gifts, we headed to the dessert table to sample all the yummies. While we ate & chatted some more we sang Happy Birthday to my grandma. She turned 86 the day of the shower and we couldn’t not have a little extra sweets for her (she has a total sweet tooth and loves cheesecake).

It was a great day and Tricia loved showing all the goodies to Alex that evening when he and the guys came home from their day out “man shopping”. Honestly, if you know anyone getting married after next Christmas, think about throwing them a shower like this, it is so much fun!
