Summer break is just days away for me and the kiddos. With that comes the never ending, "I'm hungry!" from all three of my growing children. Just ask my mom (who watches them during the school year and is more than ready for a break from her kitchen this summer), the kids eat us out of house and home and they aren't even teenagers yet! I dread to see how my grocery bill will grow over the years to come because it can already be quite substantial.
One of the kids favorite meals of the day (really, they probably enjoy every meal equally because any time of day that contains food is their favorite) is breakfast and I'm constantly in search of a new breakfast snack to feed them. During the summer I'll be able to make a real breakfast of eggs, toast, and bacon more often than during the school year when something quick and easy is what we love.
The new Quaker Soft Baked Bar are exactly what we are always looking for. They come in two flavors, Cinnamon Pecan Bread and Banana Nut Bread and are packed full of 5 B-Vitamins. With the kids wanting to eat constantly, I try to be conscious about the nutrients in the food I give them. These bars are a wholesome food that contain 140 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 6 grams of protein per bar.
These snacks will be the perfect addition to our breakfast routine on days when we've got lots of summer fun planned. The kids would probably enjoy the Banana Nut Bread best, seeing as I make banana nut muffins from scratch from time to time (but how much easier would these be for me instead?! Win!). If we've got a few extra minutes in the morning, I can pop them into the microwave to serve them warm or if we've got something planned I can easily grab these on our way out the door and let them snack on them in the car as we go.
The Quaker Soft Baked Bars will be a great solution to the question I'll be hearing all summer long, "Mom!? What's for breakfast?"
