SUYL: Mantles

Okay, first. Is it mantle or mantel? Neither way comes up with a red squiggly light under them for my built-in spell check and when I search fireplaces, some say mantle and some say mantel. Can you answer this question?

Anyway. While I don’t have a fireplace in this house, which means I don’t have a mantle to decorate, I really want one. Having Mike build a faux fireplace for the living room has been on my to-do list since we bought this house, but it’s yet to be done.

Soon, maybe.

I decided to play around with photoshop this morning to see what a fireplace in our living room will look. I thought I wanted a white fireplace until I saw this one a few weeks ago, and now I’m not sure. The black tables in this room won’t be here much longer, as soon as I get around to it I plan on taking pictures and sell them on Craigslist. I think I want Mike to make me a coffee table and some side tables, you know, another thing to add to my to-do list.

I’m not sure if I’ll keep the shelves on either side of the fireplace after the fireplace is built and I think the t.v. will go up a little more on the wall.

Want to see some fireplaces & mantles I covet? Here ya go.

I like the second white fireplace that has the yellow flowers by it. All pretty choices though! On a side note I may be interested in buying your tables so let me look at them before posting on Craigslist! 🙂
