When we found out we were expecting baby no. 2 we knew it meant Tucker would really be “growing up”, but when we found out it was going to really be baby no. 2 & baby no. 3 all at once, we had to push Tucker more than I would have liked.
The first push? Into a big boy bed. We knew we’d have to use the crib along with buying a second one, so the only thing we could figure to do was have Tucker transition into a big boy bed asap. I read this post this past week and realize now that we probably did it at the perfect age. Old enough to know how to sleep in a bed but young enough not to fight us at bedtime.
& I have to say, anyone looking for a great big boy or big girl bed? Ikea! Tucker’s bed (and the girls’ iron beds) are from Ikea. They start out where you can have them scrunched up really small (like you see in this picture) with the mattress pads they sell fitting the bottom and top & bottom sides. Then, as your child grows, you can extend the bed and even put a regular twin mattress in. They are lower to the floor as well, so no need to buy the side rails, just add a few pillows like we did on the floor and you are good to go.
