Parenting is the hardest job ever.
You hear people say that, but you never really believe it until you are saying it yourself.
& my kids are only five & three. I can just imagine what I’m going to be thinking when they are 17 & 15 with raging hormones & driver’s licenses & bad attitudes. Oh boy, I think I need a bottle of wine right now after putting those images in my head.
So, Steve (our elf) showed up this past Friday. We gave the kids the whole spiel again about Steve watching if they are being good or bad & reporting back to the big guy at the North Pole each night.
Well, this year? It doesn’t seem to be working. We’ve got whining & arguing & tantrum throwing (Lilah’s really our only screamer, it’s just the kind of kid she is I’ve decided. One day, her strong-willed temperament will be beneficial, but just not today). So today, Steve didn’t show up & I don’t think he’ll be making an appearance tomorrow, either.
Ya. Parenting is hard.
The good thing though? Or at least, what makes me feel a little better? I hear a lot of my fellow instagram friends & facebook friends & real life friends that are parents of kids around my kid’s ages are saying the exact same things. So, maybe I’m not the horrible parent I feel like. & maybe this is just a “season” as they say.
But until this season passes? Pass the wine, please!
& just to make you laugh a little, I looked up some funnies that I know you all will relate with.
