Valentines prep & a tutorial.

The kids decided to pass around a case of the sickies this weekend. It started with Lexie at the end of last week, Tucker just barely joined in the fun, and Lilah finished us off the worst of all. Knock on wood, if it’s almost gone (which I’m hoping it really is) we got out fairly easy. Lilah slept all morning on Saturday, which is not normal at all for her, but we enjoyed the peace & quiet (ooops, did I say that out loud?).

I pulled out the ol’ sewing machine (I’ve been in a huge sewing funk for a while) and decided to whip up a little Valentines bunting for the mantel.

Which led to me wanting to run errands after naps on Saturday in search of more Valentines décor for the house. Dollar Tree for the win with this uber cute little felt heart bunting.

Then I woke up Sunday morning wanting to burn my fingers & scatter my bedroom floor with scraps of felt & glue gun droppings. Yes, I craft best on the floor.

Which led me to thinking some friends on Instagram might want a little step-by-step picture tutorial on felt roses (that can totally be done with paper, too).

& maybe a little tutorial on felt hearts as well.

Add a little spray painting to some mantel décor & a 50% off gold frame from Michaels and my Valentines mantel is really coming together.

Oh, & can’t forget a little crafting for the kiddos, too. They made these for their doors. Oh, and this all left Mike questioning how we skipped over the Groundhog’s Day décor, seeing as that is his birthday & his one great achievement in life will be to convince the world they need giant inflatable groundhogs for their yards every February 2nd.

Super cute mantel! I confess I don’t usually decorate for the ‘in-between’ holidays but I might just pick some things up tonight to give our house a little Valentine’s cheer, so thanks for the inspiration.
