Last week, the kids & I went blueberry picking with my parents. There’s a berry farm just down the road from our house (honestly, less than a three minute drive). When we pulled up, we were greeted by this beauty above. Oh, how love a little farm life. One day I’d love to have a little piece of land like this one.
The kids each grabbed their own buckets and we set out down the rows & rows of blueberry trees. We taught them to only pick the purple ones & they loved trying to find the biggest ones. There was a nice cool breeze coming through while we picked and the kids loved tugging their load around. By the time we finished, each bucket was about almost a third of the way full.
For our loot we paid right at $15, and that was probably about five pounds of berries. They charge $4 a pound (compared to the $3.99 a pint I saw at Publix yesterday) which is a steal if you ask me. The girls (mostly Lilah) were dying to eat them while we were there & each had a bowlful before bed that night.
Since then we’ve made blueberry muffins & corn muffin blueberry waffles. We’ve eaten them alone or over yogurt. We’ve had them with breakfast, lunch, & dinner. & we are just about out of blueberries as I type this. You better believe we’ll be making at least one more visit before the season is over in just a few weeks.
