Gearing up for #flblogcon13

After this weekend I’ll be able to check something off my bucket list: attend a blog conference.

It’s not a huge conference, I mean at least, not one where I need to find roommates or book a plane ticket or find backup for kiddo watch for days away because it’s a local blog conference (Florida Blogger & Social Media Conference or #flblogcon13, hosted by Bahama Breeze) that is just a day event. But even so, I am still super excited to finally attend my first blog conference and the fact that its local makes it all the more exciting.1175462_594810650561762_980479912_n

I have my outfit picked (because from what I see of others who attend blog conferences, what you wear takes top bill, almost like when they ask celebrities who they are wearing on the red carpet I suppose. Insert chuckle & winkie face here). I’ve got most of my workshop sessions picked out, I’m still debating on a few. I’ve started to gather my gear, like my ipad, laptop, chargers, Erin Condren planner, fun pens, business cards, the list is really endless. & the nerves are starting to set in.

Mostly because I’m not sure I’ll know anyone there. Meeting new people, however fun it turns out to be, is always a little nerve-wracking to me. It’s funny that I can share my whole world people through these blogs but still get anxious about introducing myself to someone in person. I guess its because we can “know” so much about each other through our blogs but still not really “know” them. Luckily, my success rate with turning blog friends into real friends is a pretty good one.

So, bring on the blog conference, I really can’t wait!

    • I wish all the ladies from the #weteach event were able to attend as well! Too bad we hadn’t met each other just a little bit sooner! Be looking for a follow up post, I’ll be sure to share all I learned!

Katy Widrick (one of the panel speakers) and I have known each other for… almost 10 years now. I only started blogging this past year (having a kid will do that to you… force you to need an outlet for your thoughts that is), so this will be my first con, too.

I’ve been thinking about planning my outfit, too, but probably in the opposite direction. I want to wear something that will stand out for being different, since I’m no fashion plate. I’ll also probably have a massive camera slung around my neck.
Come say hello if you see me, I’ll be the first person you can claim you know 😉
