Two… er, three… posts in 2016.

Pretty sure I win the award for worst blogger this year.

When you blog exactly two times in one year (three if you count this lame post), that’s saying something.

I never expected to get so off track with this place. I mean, I figured it would eventually die off… my kids could only be dubbed ‘twinkies’ and a ‘tater tot’ for so long. But, I never thought I’d stop all together.

2016 has been an interesting year. Not horrible. Not great.

I mean, Mike and I did celebrate 10 years of marriage in July, but other than that, there’s not really been anything too amazing that has happened. Not that life is supposed to be filled with amazing things all the time. I mean, life itself is pretty amazing. The ins and outs of every day can be filled with amazing things, it’s just sometimes hard to see them.

My kids? Pretty amazing. I mean, they know how to drive me crazy about a million different ways and yet… I still love them. Like a lot.

My husband? He sure puts up with me in an amazing sort of way. When I’m being impatient or impractical. He’s always there.

My friends? They know me at my best and at my worst and still call me their friend… every judge-y face and fake laugh and month passed between text or call.

My parents? I mean, they are the most amazing because at the age of 32 they’re still there for me like they were when I was just three. Garage cleaning, laundry doing, grandparent-ing at its finest when it comes to them.

So… while 2016 has been busy and hectic and full of ups and downs, I realize while it may not have been one of those years that stand out from the rest, it’s done what it should. It’s taken note of everything, each moment being tucked away for later.

It’s one I’ll still remember, and think back on in years to come I’m sure. Not that I’ll remember it for winning the bad blogger award… but if I do figure out a way to get back into my writing groove, this year will certainly stand out from all the rest when it comes to that.

Here’s to just over a month left of 2016 and getting back into the swing of things. They say it takes 30 days to make a habit (okay, maybe don’t tell that to my gym-going habit that has taken a turn for the worse), let’s do this!

More firsts in #ourforeverfloridahome

It’s finally that time of year. The holidays are here, well, they’ve been here for some time. I shared with you what Christmas looks like in our new home a few weeks back. A few things have been added since then, a few things moved, just figuring out where I want everything.

What I really can’t wait for though are the firsts that will take place over the next few days in this new home. The first time we put on our Christmas pajamas (the kids get them every year, and sometimes Mike and I get some new ones, too. I forgot to buy us some this year and I finished the last of my shopping earlier today. I have no plans to go anywhere near a store in the next 48+ hours so it looks like old jammies for the two of us this year). I can’t wait to tuck the kids in on Christmas eve, for the first time in this house. Waking up on Christmas morning and opening presents under the Christmas tree and welcoming family to our home is another first I’m looking forward to.

I cleaned the house from top to bottom this morning. Mike helped and so did the kids. We went through their rooms, a tradition of ours, searching for toys we can donate to some boys & girls in need. We are ready for the next few days, to say the least.

This Christmas is a little different than others though because we’ll be heading out bright and early the day after to drive down to Siesta Key for my cousin’s wedding. They are from Michigan and decided to have a beach wedding, this December couldn’t be any more perfect for it with the weather we’ve been having lately.

So, from our family to yours, here’s to a Merry Christmas filled with love & joy and anything else you’ve been wishing for!

First day of school: 2015

Another summer over and another first day of school in the books. First week of school really, since it’s taken me that long to get this post together. Want even more icing on the cake? We’ve already had our first case of the sickies…Lilah stayed home from school today!

This year, Tucker’s in 2nd grade with Mrs. Johnson and the girls are together, in first grade with Mrs. Hillen (yes…Tucker’s teacher from last year). All three are excited about the year ahead, as is this momma.

What gets me though? Looking at their pictures from last year and comparing them to this year! OMG…stop growing up please!

First Day of School: 2014.

It’s that time of year again. You know, the one where overly proud parents post annoying pictures of their kids on the first day back to school. Yup, consider me one of those parents because here is my kid’s back-to-school pictures. I cannot believe I’m the parent of a first grader and two kindergarteners. ThatContinue Reading

Essential Oil Review: My Life’s Essentials

A few months ago I was contacted by Julie at My Life’s Essentials in regards to checking out some essential oils and doing a review on them. I’ve been wanting to try essential oils for sometime now, so this review was meant to be. After eagerly jumping on this, I gave Julie a rundown ofContinue Reading

The Griswold’s ain’t got nothin’ on us.

According to a friend on Facebook, that title is the truth ::word:: I do happen to feel pretty good about surviving 24 hours of camping with three kids. We all know that kind of stuff can go one of two ways. Luckily, our kind of camping wasn’t really roughing it. We had a bathroom withContinue Reading

Nanmade with love.

If you’ve followed me on here, or IG, or Facebook, you know my mom makes these gorgeous handmade goodies. Crochet & knit, it all is amazing. In my house alone I have garland (heart, groundhog, & shamrocks just to start), tons of scarves, minion hats & kitty hats (& more hats than that), and evenContinue Reading

Welcoming a new year.

As I (and my kids) grow older, I get more giddy with each new year that creeps up on us. As much as I love decorating the house for Christmas, by the end of the holiday season, I’m grateful to tuck it all away, clean the house, and start a fresh year with a cleanContinue Reading

Mount Dora Christmas Getaway, part one.

On Saturday, we headed to Mount Dora with my parents to spend the weekend. We had decided a few months back to attend their annual Christmas parade, stay the night at one of their local B&B’s, shop their quaint little shops, eat their good food, and enjoy the millions of little lights they deck theirContinue Reading
