More firsts in #ourforeverfloridahome

It’s finally that time of year. The holidays are here, well, they’ve been here for some time. I shared with you what Christmas looks like in our new home a few weeks back. A few things have been added since then, a few things moved, just figuring out where I want everything.

What I really can’t wait for though are the firsts that will take place over the next few days in this new home. The first time we put on our Christmas pajamas (the kids get them every year, and sometimes Mike and I get some new ones, too. I forgot to buy us some this year and I finished the last of my shopping earlier today. I have no plans to go anywhere near a store in the next 48+ hours so it looks like old jammies for the two of us this year). I can’t wait to tuck the kids in on Christmas eve, for the first time in this house. Waking up on Christmas morning and opening presents under the Christmas tree and welcoming family to our home is another first I’m looking forward to.

I cleaned the house from top to bottom this morning. Mike helped and so did the kids. We went through their rooms, a tradition of ours, searching for toys we can donate to some boys & girls in need. We are ready for the next few days, to say the least.

This Christmas is a little different than others though because we’ll be heading out bright and early the day after to drive down to Siesta Key for my cousin’s wedding. They are from Michigan and decided to have a beach wedding, this December couldn’t be any more perfect for it with the weather we’ve been having lately.

So, from our family to yours, here’s to a Merry Christmas filled with love & joy and anything else you’ve been wishing for!

[First] Christmas in #ourforeverflorida home

I share our home with you every year at Christmas. Heck, I share it multiple times a year. This year is a little different than the last five years though, because it’s our first one in #ourforeverfloridahome.

I’m still figuring out where to put things, and what areas I need to buy a little more Christmas for. Also, our kitchen. Barely decorated. Our kitchen in the old house was probably my favorite part of Christmas decorating and this one? Not so much. That’s only because the kitchen has had very little done to it since moving in. It’s actually the first big project I want us to tackle in the new year. Kitchen reno, here we come.

Week 21-ish in #ourforeverfloridahome

The holidays are coming (what what!?) and I figured it was time for an update.

Our first set of holidays in our new home, our forever home. Bringing old traditions into this new house, making new traditions and new memories. Ones that will last a lifetime.

We haven’t done any projects since everything we did to get ready for the girls’ birthday party but I have plenty more I want to do right now. The kitchen is what I’m really dying to get my hands on but I think we’ve finally decided, after going back and forth over keeping the original cabinets, to put new ones in. That means the renovation will be a much bigger project that I was thinking it would be.

Life is so busy, I feel like I’m always saying that though. Because of this, and how must more busy the holidays make life, I think we are going to wait on the kitchen until after the new year (I say that now and watch me get a crazy whim to start it next week or something!?)…

For now, here’s what our house looks like right now (well, this is actually what it looked like just a few days ago, right now it looks like all kinds of Halloween has come to visit…those pictures to come soon!).

So come on in, take a peek

Week 15-ish in #ourforeverfloridahome

So, you may think by the lack of blogging I’ve done this summer that I have totally forgot how to do it. I promise that is not the case. I’m just doing it so much for all of my clients that I have next to no time to do it for myself. That & theContinue Reading

Week six and seven in #ourforeverfloridahome.

Working during the summer is no joke. Most normal people, who have always worked year-round have no clue what I mean by this or what the big deal is. But being a teacher for almost 9 years and having summers off during that time leave me feeling very odd this first summer that I’m actuallyContinue Reading

Week five in #ourforeverflorida home…

Well, we haven’t done anything spectacular around the house lately and it’s really bumming me out. I really want to do our floors, like we have been planning today, but we just haven’t had any time at all the get to the store to order the floors, let alone install them (yes, we plan onContinue Reading

Week four in #ourforeverfloridahome…

Dang. I did it again. Technically, we are almost to week 5…but I think you’ll understand why a few more lines into this post. (p.s. one month in our forever home…and it really feels like we’ve always been here…) We loved spending our first Memorial Day in this house, grilling out and swimming all dayContinue Reading

Week three (and a half…) in #ourforeverfloridahome

It’s been a busy week, hence not getting to this until about halfway to week four. We’ve been working on lots of odds & ends this week. I have about four boxes left to unpack of decorations, but most of them I’m not really sure where to put. I started painting doors this weekend,Continue Reading

Week two in #ourforeverfloridahome

Two weeks in and it’s like we’ve always been here. What’s even better about that? The memories we get to make in this house that we really haven’t yet. Most every room in the house is done. & by done I mean that the boxes for each room are unpacked and things are set upContinue Reading
